ICW Eastern Africa, funded by Treatment Action Group (TAG) implements a 4-year TB/HIV project for sub-Saharan Africa (2007-2010).

The main objective of the project is to train and support African TB/HIV community advocates & their organizations to scale-up TB/HIV prevention, care and treatment towards universal access by 2010. This commitment is outlined in the 2006 Abuja Declaration, G8, and 2006 UNGASS Declaration, as well as The Global Plan to Stop TB 2006-2015. The project counts among its achievements the involvement of 40 networks and organizations as well as the development of the first UNGASS Shadow report monitoring UNGASS commitments in East Africa (Civil Society TB/HIV UNGASS Monitoring Country Report, 2010).

Next step! TB/HIV, a Sexual & Reproductive Right issue: As the above project with TAG is now finished, ICW Eastern Africa will take forward the work developed over the last years by integrating TB/HIV in all our advocacy and to focus on gender and women living with HIV. This concerns particularly pregnant women who are tested for the first time and not accessing TB drugs, care and support, a condition related to HIV.
