ICW Eastern Africa coordinates this grant-making mechanism for all sub-Saharan Africa. It is the first of its kind connecting positive women’s groups at the grassroots and advocacy all over the continent around our health and rights priorities.

The HIV Collaborative Fund for Women & Families in Africa is dedicated to HIV positive women’s groups & networks, to ensure women access information about their health and rights protected from discrimination.

Through the coordination of ICW Eastern Africa, African HIV positive women designed the grant, set out criteria to fit women’s priorities on main focus areas impacting on the right to access health service: treatment literacy, sexual & reproductive rights, gender equity & livelihood.

The project started in 2005 funded by the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC) in partnership with Tides Foundation. The project is due to end in December 2011. ICW Eastern Africa and ITPC remain partners. ICW Eastern Africa is establishing partnerships to sustain this critical project.
